Easter is tomorrow and we are 1900 miles away from our families. We are spending time as a family, went for a walk, did a community egg hunt, and colored eggs. It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is Easter. BB is not big enough yet to really understand what is going on and so we have been able to not go over the top and get crazy. We are able to spend extra time as a family since moving here and its been amazing. However, this is the first holiday I have ever spent away from my family.
Had we been in Flagstaff, this time would be spent between families, a task that used to be a bit overwhelming between everyone’s schedules at the time but now a task that is sorely missed. It is weird that we aren’t scheduling and planning out the timings of where we will be and when. We typically would visit with one family then go to the other families house. We spent great quality time with our families and I think now it is sinking in that its time to make our own traditions and that we will soon be able to see our families again. In a way it will be similar, we have spent a bit of time today planning when we will be able to Skype our families. It’s not the same and I know its hard for them to have us away especially with BB but we are all still together is spirit.
Today, as a family we went to a community egg hunt, BB was not really sure what was going on and we were sort of hoping to maybe meet some families or at least some mommy friends for me. Well BB waited patiently for them to say go and she got two eggs!! She is not walking or crawling so finding eggs consisted of us hovering her over an egg and her picking it up and putting it in the basket. It was successful and quite fun. BB enjoyed watching all the little kids and I think she had a good time she wanted to stand up and look around and would fuss whenever we tried to hold her. She is growing up so fast I can’t stand it!!
After that we went and explored a little, tried to find a kitchen table at garage sales, and went and got lunch. We then picked up some stuff from storage, came home and relaxed for a little while and let BB take a nap. I made D his Easter treat, rice crispy treats, and we watched a movie. Once BB woke up we went for a long walk on a trail I had wanted to go explore for a while. It is really nice to have the opportunity to just hang out as a family. We made dinner and spent the rest of the night in, where we colored (literally) easter eggs.
It is different from what we are used to but we are making it work. What matters most is we are with family and we are still able to spend time with our families even if its only cyber time.
For tomorrow we are going to hang out, take it easy, and possibly if the weather is good go hike to a waterfall by the glacier. I am so grateful for our little family and I am grateful for the opportunity to live in this stunning town with my incredible family.

Happy Easter to the 3 of you. Enjoy the time together. I sure wish I would have gotten to see that little person before you headed north.

Thank you! I am sure we will be back to visit, and hopefully you can see her then! We really tried so hard to see everyone we could but that is quite the task and she alone kept us pretty busy!
