1 Month

I can’t believe how fast time has flown. I think part of it might be the fact that 3 of the last 4 weeks have been a complete whirlwind. 1 month ago from today we packed up our last few things and hit the road. Similar to when BB turned a month old I am feeling like time is going 100 miles a minute at the exact same time as I savour every second. Since we’ve moved I don’t feel like the gravity of everything has sunk in yet. Easter made things a lot more real but come on its only been a month. I think that once we start getting visitors it will sink in. Nothing makes you realize how fast everything is going especially with a baby as does having someone who hasn’t seen her in X amount of time. I am sure we will hear things like oh my gosh she’s grown so much and she is so different.IMG_0811

Before we left, a few family members whose opinions I respect greatly, said that when they moved away from family it was the best decision they made. At the time I would think to myself, boy I just hope that is the same case for us. We made this decision together and I continually used the fact that it felt right to reassure myself. I can say now I still stand by our decision. Don’t get me wrong, we miss our families, more than I expected to even, (we did live in Phoenix for a year…). And we still don’t really know many people here, but that will come with time.

Since we have moved here things are a lot different. Before we were both running around so crazy and there were so many things to do in so little time it was starting to feel like we were just babysitting BB. I would get frustrated often because I felt so overwhelmed and the busyness was really wearing on us. D also was really getting burnt out at his job. Now, I am able to make us dinner every night, I get to spend lots of quality time with BB which has also let D spend more quality time with her, D and I have had more time together, and R, well R isn’t sure she likes it here yet but she’s been loving all the hikes! Additionally, D is enjoying his job, they treat him really well and they have really been trying to help him get situated here. Also, they have had concerts at his work the last two Fridays. It seems to me like he’s found a good fit and is really starting to enjoy his job. (Maybe one of these days I can convince him to update you on all of that. Feel free to let him know if you’d like to hear from him.)

Overall its been a huge change and there are still a lot of adjustments for us to get used to but we are doing it as a family and that’s all that matters. To be super cliché, It’s not about where you are but who you’re with, and I am with two pretty dang amazing people!
