8 months

I can’t believe it and I don’t know how I am going to handle it, BB is 8 months old.

I am so excited that she is growing up, don’t get me wrong. She is such a sweet, hilarious, and spunky little kid. I love seeing her learn and explore new things. This girl is one smart cookie. She really loves reading books and exploring and finding out what things are. Just last night she figured out how to open the kitchen cabinets and she would open in peek in and shut it. She did that for a while and it was really cute because every time she was so excited that there was something inside. For now it is energy free peek a boo! She is very mobile and although not officially crawling that doesn’t stop her. She is so curious about everything. We went shopping yesterday and her and D just explored everything in the store and she thought it was the coolest thing. It made me realize I should probably make shopping with her a little more of a learning experience, she would love it. He held up a grapefruit that was the size of her head and was telling her all about it and she loved it. additionally, he showed her everything and offered to feed her almost everything in the store.

She is also quite the social butterfly. She is starting to sort of get a little separation anxiety but it is mainly when we leave without saying goodbye or if she is with someone else and looses sight of us or feels like we are too far away. She loves to smile and wave at people and usually will ham it up as long as they are talking about how adorable she is.  She looks just like her dad and I always have to tell people in stores that it’s all her daddy, those adorable, big, blue eyes. Her incredible skin tone, it’s all him. She is becoming so independent and gets frustrated when we don’t let her do things on her own. I think a big but subtle sign of this is her only wanting her pacifier if she puts it in her mouth. It only makes it worse if she can’t do it. She’s got a strong will already.

We were able to see a lot of family this month and spend a lot of good quality time together and outside. We went on new hikes and explored new areas. Additionally, she has tried a couple new things to eat. She likes bell peppers, although we have just given her a slice of one to sort of suck on. She is a fan of crackers and baby puffs. She is still not showing huge signs of being that interested in eating solid food. I think she still has exploring and moving as a priority. We got a couple new toys to encourage her crawling and pulling up to stand, she loves them. She has been really interested in playing with R and I think it is becoming more of a play time and less pull on her.

She has started to laugh when we do certain things, like when I say, “I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” and typically she has been especially giggly during diaper changes. She thinks it is really fun to share her pacifier with me and the sound it makes when she pulls it out of my mouth. She loves to explore faces with her little hands. She is ticklish under her chin, on her feet, her inner thighs, and her belly/pits. She is currently wearing size 9 month P.J.’s, still fits in most of her 3 month onsies, is in between 9 and 12 month pants (it all depends if we want them to stay pants or if we are okay with Capri’s after a while), wears I think size Infant 2 or 3 shoes which is the 6 month shoe (we haven’t put shoes on her in a while), and is in size two diapers (and all the smallest snaps on the cloth diapers). She also really likes music and it seems like she tries to sing along now.

She is starting to say words with more intention. Instead of mamamamama or dadadadada it’s mom or dad, or just random combinations of sounds. I could have sworn she was saying Dom yesterday.

She is the most incredible little lady and she is growing up so fast. We love her with all our hearts and are excited to watch her grow.
