In August we made a trip to Flagstaff for one of my dear friends weddings. It was a relatively unexpected as we weren’t necessarily planning to go back to Flagstaff that soon (she wasn’t planning to get married for another year initially). When we found out her wedding was moved up and that we would be there in August we started to ask about getting BB baptized. It was on our minds for a while, as we were going to try to do it right before we left but decided that was just too crazy to try and plan, and we thought this could be a good time to make it happen. D’s dad is a Deacon and we wanted him to baptize her. We asked if it would be dooable and everyone said they would make it happen. Next we wanted to make sure her God parents would be able to make it. Thankfully they love BB so much they literally dropped everything (studying for finals the following week) to be there. Things really fell in place for all of it. Additionally, we made the most of it and made a point to see a lot of our family. We were able to see all of BB’s great grandparents, her grandparents, and thanks to the baptism we even saw all her uncles and her aunt. That’s a lot of family!
We left on Tuesday evening and stayed the night in Seattle. That was a crazy night. We had a total of about 4 hours to sleep and between BB waking up or just being a bed hog and being in a noisy hotel I don’t think we got even close to that. We were in Phoenix by 10 Wednesday morning and were picked up at the airport by D’s brother Diego. From there we visited BB’s great Nana and great Tata (D’s Nana and Tata). It was good to see them and they enjoyed seeing BB and letting her tear up their house (Sorry about that!). From there we drove to Tucson and saw BB’s other great grandparents. That visit was really great and it was nice to spend some time with them. We don’t often get to see them and it was really sweet to see D’s grandma play with BB. It is a lot of fun observing our families with BB. There is so much love for that little girl in our families.
We headed back to Phoenix that evening and spent the night at BB’s aunt Arrianna’s house. The next morning we took her to breakfast before she headed to class and we hit the mall. It was interesting and sort of funny how all of our shopping revolved around BB and getting her cool things. We ate lunch and made our way up to Flagstaff. We had busy days planned when we got up there and we knew we wouldn’t have a lot of free time so it was really nice to just relax for a day.
The evening we arrived in Flagstaff we attended our Baptism preparation class. My parents got to hang out with BB for that and we got a little bit of just parent time! Friday we had coffee with one of D’s former co-workers and a friend of ours. It was so nice and refreshing to meet with one of our friends from back home. We chatted and she played with BB for a couple hours. I am still dreaming of the coffee and frozen yogurt we got during that visit. After that we met my mom for lunch. It was weird having to schedule time to see our families but we just were so busy. I had the rehearsal dinner for my friend that night and we had discussed D going to Buffalo Wild Wings to fulfill a craving while I was gone. I took BB with me because (I am selfish) my friend requested I bring her. Luck has it that I was that bridesmaid that was late to the rehearsal despite thinking I was going to be early and just misreading the text a couple dozen times. Thankfully I have a cute baby as a buffer. BB and I enjoyed our night and spending time with some of my friends I hadn’t seen in a while and of course celebrating my friends big day!

The next morning we Baptized BB.
