Christmas 2000 miles away.

This Christmas was the first time in all of D and I’s lives that we have been away from family. That is sort of a big deal! Especially because we have a family of our own now. I tried to make it as special and like home as possibly and we also tried to find our own way. IT was hard knowing that our families were missing us as we were missing them but thanks to modern technology we were able to still see them and they got to experience BB’s excitement as she showed them her loot and was busy rearranging everything.

I will answer the most common questions we got while skyping family for all of you. Assuming you are also wondering the same things!

Yes, BB loved the gifts and toys she got. She was not so sure about unwrapping everything (this was a surprise to me since she was all about unwrapping and ripping the paper while I was wrapping). While unwrapping she was very careful ripping the paper and she would gently place it in the pile. She was only good for about 3 gifts before needing a break to sort things. She loved arranging and rearranging everything into different boxes. I planned to make enchiladas and tamales for our Christmas dinner but we were invited to Dom’s co-workers house and ended up eating ham, salad, cranberries, and other delicious things. We went to mass Christmas eve and BB wore a dress she got last year (size 3-6 month 🙂 ) from her great grandma. The favorite present that morning was a purple tumbler cup with owls from her Nana and Tata. She has since spread her attention pretty evenly and even talked her dad into putting together her toy from her grandma and grandpa. We had 0 casualties of ornaments (mainly because we only had 3 up). We got a real tree. Santa was left a plate of homemade snickerdoodles and a glass of milk and carrots for the reindeer! Feel free to ask any other questions that I may have missed!
