Whole 30: Week 2

This week was probably the hardest week for us so far. On top of feeling exhausted all the time one of D’s favorite restaurants kept teasing him by having incredible food that he happened to see every day. Also this was the week that we were supposed to really crave junk food and I would say we did that part really well. D and I don’t usually eat a lot of junk food. We snack on tortilla chips or nuts but aren’t huge fans of the processed snack cakes or any of that stuff. However, I have a huge sweet tooth and D really likes pizza, and as I am sure you can guess those were the main things we were craving. I just wanted a slice of cake and D wanted pizza. The funny thing that I found was that I would dream about D eating his cravings but never once dreamt about eating my own. I think we are getting the hang of this and starting now we should be feeling pretty awesome from all the whole foods we are eating. Here’s to being half way there!

This, I am craving this!!

Additionally, D and I have started to notice changes in our tastes. We got some cherries and both agreed that they tasted like candy. While cherries naturally are delicious, I think that the absence of  all the sugar we would typically eat, these cherries were extra sweet! Fruit is such a treat now, I could happily snack on fruit all day and not even want other sweets.

What we are to expect:

Day 6-7: So very sleepy

Day 8-9: My pants don’t fit

Day 10-11: The hardest days

Day 12-15: Dreaming of junk food

How we really felt:

Day 6-7: we definitely were feeling sluggish. D mentioned how he felt like he just couldn’t sleep enough.

Day 8-9: We still felt sluggish but had no noticeable bloating.

Day 10-11: We were so busy these days that we didn’t really get a chance to think about it. I think we had a good thing going and didn’t really think much about what we were eating. We were on a roll.

Day 12-15: There is no doubt these days were tough. While we were super busy and had a lot going on we both noticed that we really wanted junk food. Not all junk food necessarily but Pizza and sweets. It’s funny how these two things have stood out and are really the only things we really are craving.

Overall, this week didn’t seem so bad. The changes in how we were feeling were not so significant that we felt our lives were disrupted and the food was starting to grow on us. I was getting the hang of cooking dinners and trying new things, we had our “traditions” to uphold and weekends were getting easier too with our new Steak treat.

Here’s a few pictures of our yummy food.
