2 more days… We will make it!!
This week was eye opening. We are back home and it was surprising to see just how much I missed eating so clean. I am not sure D feels the same, he’s more of a food is food kind of guy and he still misses his pizza! I am so grateful D did this with me but I think it’s been pretty hard on him!
We were supposed to be noticing just how much this diet has helped the way we feel and noticing changes in our bodies. I think that eating out so much set us back a little. We both have been a little extra tired and I had a day or two that I was just sort of off my game and grumpier than normal. I am happy to report that the end of the week has gotten better and we are starting to feel good again. I feel like the end is so much less exciting and dramatic. We are still eating this way and we feel pretty good about it.
I definitely missed eating so well. I missed home cooking, I missed fresh, simple food. Something that I really had to fight through was wanting sweets, like it was nobody’s business. If you know me this shouldn’t be a big surprise but I was getting discouraged because I was hoping this would help with that. I vowed to keep this way of eating until I didn’t want sweets all the time and was threatening to eat an whole cake as soon as the 30 days was up! My good friend shed some light on the situation and suggested I eat some almonds or veggies. Since I have been overloading the veggies I figured I would give the almonds a try and guess what… I am totally over needing sweets! The human body is amazing and confusing, why I didn’t just want almonds is beyond me. However, I encourage you to look into what you are eating or craving and look to see if it’s your body way of telling you it needs something, usually not what you are craving. (My example: I wanted chocolate, but needed a substance found in almonds) Google it, there are lots of resources!
I think D is looking forward to his pizza when this is all over. We will be on vacation again right after we finish and we are supposed to slowly reintroduce foods so as to not make ourselves super sick. So we might have to take it slow and build up to his pizza… but don’t tell him!
Overall we feel better, I feel so much healthier when we eat this way and I don’t miss sweets at all, anymore. Also, I don’t miss dairy or gluten at all. At this point it’s just no big deal. I’ve also noticed that naturally sweet things taste much sweeter. Fruit is such a treat! We’ve also really been enjoying La Croix, a sparkling water which is not sweetened or anything but at this point tastes almost like soda. I feel sort of like I am getting ripped off sweetness wise now but I know it’s for the better! Also, I have found that we are eating way more veggies than we would normally. We’ve also found that Lara bars are quite delicious and we definitely have been going through those a lot this last week. They make for great grab and go snacks, something that was hard to find! A note on those, I had tried them a couple times before and couldn’t stand them, now they taste like a candy bar!
