I had to learn a lesson this Christmas season. Every Christmas I always make cookies and do crafts as gifts. This year I was trying to make crafts and I was doing too much. I tend to think I can do way more that I actually can and I often get overwhelmed. I was trying to do something for everyones christmas gift and I found myself getting frustrated at or with BB and it made me realize that the reason for Christmas isn’t hundreds of homemade things or hundreds of dollar spent.  It’s about spending time and sharing love. This realization drastically changed my perspective and made me slow down and reassess what I was doing.

Nothing I need to do or make is as important as BB. While yes, things do still need to get done I should never be so worried about getting them done that BB is frustrated or I am frustrated. It was a sobering moment that totally changed the rest of the way I approached Christmas. That does mean that our gifts were sent out last minute and that I was still wrapping gifts on Christmas eve after BB went to bed. However, it was perfect once this clicked and I was able to make some very special memories with BB. Like baking cookies and having her help! She loved eating the dough!
